The OSFP Optical Transceiver is an Ethernet 400Gbps Single-port OSFP with a Flat-top (OSFP-RHS) form factor, DR4L multimode parallel transceiver using a single, 4-channel MPO-12/APC optical connector. The Reach 4-channel (DR4L) design uses 100G-PAM4 modulation and has a maximum fiber reach of 100-meters using OS2 single mode fibers. It is qualified for use in Ethernet end-to-end systems.
It supports flexible configurations. Deployed with ConnectX-7 OSFP adapters and twin-port transceivers in 2x400G Ethernet switches. When paired with a 1:2 splitter fiber cable, only two channels are activated on the split end, enabling automatic downshift to 200G operation while reducing power consumption. It is an ideal solution for supercomputing, delivering efficient high-performance interconnectivity with seamless integration into computing and storage infrastructures.
Note:"Finned-top" transceivers are now called "Integrated HeatSink" (IHS) as the cooling fins are integrated into the OSFP connector metal top. Commonly used in air-cooled switches. "Flat-top" transceivers are now called "Riding Heat Sink" (RHS) as the cooling fins ride on top of the network card or systems internal cages. This is used for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled applications for DGX, ConnectX-7 and BlueField-3 DPUS.
